FAQs

+ Do you work with individuals or businesses?

Both!

For individuals, I provide tax services. If you are a solopreneur and need help with anything other than tax prep, please inquire about business services.

For businesses, I provide accounting, tax, and consulting services.

This runs the gamut from bookkeeping to pricing analysis to tax planning. If it deals with the numbers side of business, I can usually help (or point you in the right direction).

+ What is it like working with you?

By intention, working with me is easy, efficient, and enjoyable. As a numbers business, is not an easy experience to create and it sets me apart from my peers. Most people have hang-ups around money, and that's completely natural. One bit of feedback I'm always happy to hear is how I help ease people's worries!

We will work together virtually. Depending on your needs, it may be:
• Short term project, like setting up payroll • Recurrent, like filing your income taxes, or • Monthly, if I'm maintaining your business financials.

You don't need to set an appointment every time you have a question. Text, email, or give me a call. I aim to be open and helpful. You won't have to cut through a bunch of bureaucracy to get what you need.

+ What will you need from me to get started?

It depends on the service, but it usually involves filling out a form, providing a few documents, and/or access to your books.

You do not need perfect books and/or all taxes filed before working together. We'll meet you where you are and plan a path forward.

+ What are your prices?

A pricing page will be live soon. Periodically I update my prices as I add new services, packages, and annually. For 2022, my hourly rate is $225.

My goal is to provide my services at a fixed price so we're both clear and you can budget. That said, every company is different. If

I'm unable to give a fixed price, like to clean up work, I perform it hourly. I'll always give an estimate and will advise if I expect to go over it.

For tax preparation, I charge by the forms necessary and complexity.

+ What are your billing terms?

For monthly accounting assistance, our billing is setup as a subscription. Payments will process on the first of the month for a fixed amount. We invoice electronically and accept payment by electronic funds transfers(bank transfer).

+ What is the best way to reach you?

Email is the best ways to reach us. We typically reply within 48 hours.

For current clients, please email us at team@kisaccounting.com.

For all others, please contact us at support@kisaccounting.com.

If you have an urgent issue, send an email with “URGENT” is the subject line and describe the problem in the email.

While you can call us, we don't answer often because we're in meetings or doing deep work. Please leave a voicemail and follow up with an email to team@kisaccounting.com.

+ Do you have a service guarantee?

As much as I hate to say it, slip-ups happen. I will serve you to the best of my ability, but there are lots of variables. If your results do not match your expectations, please let me know. I will do what I can to make it right.

My service guarantee is not a hard and fast policy. Depending on what happened and why, I am open to offering a discount, refund, or extra work at no cost.

To have the best outcome of our work together, here are a few tips.
• Be upfront about your expectations and situation
• Provide all information requested and promptly
• Speak up if you detect a misunderstanding

My goal is to help you. I will do my utmost, although sometimes we may not be a good fit for each other. For example, we may communicate differently or have mismatched expectations.

To prevent a mismatch, we'll start off with a small project. That way we can get used to working together before making a deeper commitment.

I’m here to help your business grow and thrive. If you have any concerns, let’s grab some coffee and talk it out. It may be a minor misunderstanding, and I'd appreciate having the chance to make it right.

+ What apps or programs do you recommend?

The main accounting tools I use and recommend for clients are: • Accounting Software: Quickbooks Online

• Online Bill Pay: Bill.com for QuickBooks Online

• Receipt Management: Hubdoc

• Payroll: Gusto

I use a lot of non-financial software in my business and will occasionally recommend other products based on a client's specific situation. To get regular updates on software that's caught my eye, be sure to check out my KIS & Tell blog series. Since I have tested these products and thoroughly endorse them, I am an affiliate partner. If you would like to use any of them, by clicking the links above and signing up you will get a significant discount and I’ll receive a small commission. The discounts offered are usually better than any current offers the company’s give to new, non-affiliate-directed customers.

+ What does KIS mean?

Keep it simple.

Back in high school, I went to a magnet school and the only after school program was robotics club. The club mascot was an old WWII character, Kilroy, and our motto was "keep it simple, stupid." This was a good reminder for teenagers trying to reinvent the wheel while designing robots!

Something about KISS stuck with me, at least the simplicity part. It rang true. We overthink our problems when often the best solution is the simplest. Simplicity - it's really the most elegant form of being possible.

I dropped the second “S” because there is nothing "stupid" about business or finances. I’ll play around with it sometimes, like keep.it.simple.sweetie, my Instagram handle.

KIS is a reminder to myself and my clients. It’s a mantra I practice. I'm not one for drama or "busy-ness." Deep down, I gravitate towards calm, clarity, and simplicity. As a result, I feel balanced, at peace, and fulfilled. My mission is to help you feel the same.
